Chelsea make surprise move for Spain goalkeeper – report
Chelsea want to sign AC Milan and Spain goalkeeper Diego Lopez, according to Gazzetta Mercato
Chelsea are looking to sign AC Milan and Spain goalkeeper Diego Lopez this summer, according to reports in the Italian media.
Gazzetta Mercato are reporting that Bosnia-Herzegovina international Asmir Begovic could be moving away from Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window amid interest from Premier League rivals Everton.
The same story claims that Chelsea have already agreed personal terms with the Spain shot stopper as Lopez prepares to battle Thibaut Courtois for the number one spot at the west London side.
Lopez has made just 37 appearances for the Milan side over the past two seasons after falling behind Gianluigi Donnarumma in the pecking order at the San Siro outfit.
Chelsea number two Begovic was forced to provide cover for Courtois for most of the 2015/16 season after the Belgium international suffered a serious injury last term.
The 2015 Premier League champions unveiled their new permanent manager Antonio Conte last week as the ex-Italy head coach looks to guide the Blues back into the Champion League.
The west Londoners finished in tenth place in the top-flight table last season just one year after winning their fourth Premier League crown.
