Chelsea open talks over making Conte’s second signing – report
Chelsea want to sign N'Golo Kante from Leicester City this summer, according to reports
Chelsea are in talks to sign N’Golo Kante from Leicester City this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun is claiming that the west London club are keen to bring the France international midfielder to Stamford Bridge in what would be Antonio Conte’s second signing of the summer transfer window.
The same story goes on to say, however, that Chelsea may have to end up paying more than the player’s £20m release clause – because Chinese club Shanghai SIPG have already offered £35m and Leicester are able to sell to the highest bidder.
Kante earned plenty of new admirers last season as his sparkling displays in midfield for Claudio Ranieri’s men helped the Foxes lift the Premier League trophy in May.
The report also claims that Kante rejected the offer of a new £100,000-a-week contract with Leicester, which could indicate his desire to move on this summer.
Amid all of the speculation, new Chelsea boss Conte is getting to grips with life at Cobham as the first wave of Chelsea players reported for pre-season training on Monday.
