Chelsea star: What I really think about new boss Antonio Conte
Asmir Begovic has been impressed by Antonio Conte's start to life at Manchester United
Asmir Begovic has admitted that he has been very impressed by what he has seen from Antonio Conte since the Italian’s arrival at Chelsea.
Conte took charge of his first official game as Chelsea boss on Saturday as he watched his side slump to a 2-0 loss to Rapid Vienna in their first pre-season game in Austria.
With Thibaut Courtois still on summer holiday, Begovic played in goal for the west London side as Conte patrolled the touchline for the first time as Chelsea boss.
Conte was brought in as Jose Mourinho’s permanent successor at Chelsea and has been tasked with guiding the Blues back to the top of English football after their 10th-placed finish last term.
And Begovic admits that he has been impressed by the Italian’s approach since taking over at the club.
Speaking in an interview with Chelsea’s official website, Begovic said: “We are buying into what the manager wants us to do. We are working hard to try and improve.
“We’re working in a different way so it’s going to take a bit of time to process but so far so good, and I think over time we’ll get better.
“He communicates very well, so he got his message across at half-time and before the game. We expect to work hard, that’s part of pre-season. We’re trying to be very disciplined. The work ethic is very strong.”
Chelsea will have to make do without European football this season after the disappointment of their 10th-placed finish in the Premier League last term.
