Chelsea want to make midfielder Conte’s third signing – report
Chelsea and Everton both want to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho this summer, say reports
Chelsea are set to battle with Everton in the race to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho in the summer transfer window, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that Chelsea are keen to sign the 24-year-old Portugal international this summer – but that Premier League rivals Everton are currently leading the chase for his signature.
The same story goes on to claim that both Everton and Chelsea are also keen to sign Napoli centre-half Kalidou Koulibaly as the two English clubs look to strengthen their defensive options ahead of next season.
The report also claims that both Chelsea and Liverpool have shown an interest in signing another Sporting Lisbon midfielder – Joao Mario.
Antonio Conte has been relatively busy in the summer transfer market since his official arrival at the club earlier this month.
The Italian coach has brought in striker Michy Batshuayi from Marseille and has also recruited midfielder N’Golo Kante from Leicester City.
Chelsea finished 10th in the Premier League table last season after a disastrous campaign for the west London club.
