Emmanuel Petit slams Man United over proposed £100m bid for Paul Pogba
Emmanuel Petit questions Manchester United's pursuit of Paul Pogba
Emmaneul Petit has questioned why Manchester United would want to re-sign Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba for £100m.
The France international’s agent Mino Raiola has confirmed that United are one of a number of clubs in the hunt to sign the 23-year-old box-to-box midfielder in the summer transfer window.
According to a Sky Sports News HQ report, United are willing to make a £100m offer for the Serie A champion as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his midfield options ahead of the new season.
Pogba was a key part of Didier Deschamps’s France side that managed to reach the European championship final before a 1-0 defeat by Portugal in extra-time in Paris on Sunday night.
The 23-year-old was previously a United player but failed to secure regular first-team football under Sir Alex Ferguson and moved to Juventus from the Red Devils in a £800,000 deal in 2012.
Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Petit has questioned why the United board would sanction a £100m bid for Pogba just four years after allowing the Frenchman to leave for such a small fee.
“(He left) For Free. And they want him back for £100m! Who’s the sporting director at Manchester United?” Petit told Yahoo Sport.
