Harry Redknapp makes bold claim about Man United and Cristiano Ronaldo
Harry Redknapp talks up the possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo returning to Manchester United in the future
Harry Redknapp believes Cristiano Ronaldo will return to Manchester United if the Portugal international decides to leave Real Madrid in the future.
The 31-year-old is currently preparing for his second European championship final as Portugal take on hosts France in the Euro 2016 showpiece on Sunday.
Ronaldo fired Los Blancos to their 11th Champions League crown earlier this year after a penalty shootout victory over derby rivals Atletico Madrid in Milan.
The Portuguese forward has been linked with a return to the Red Devils sporadically over the past two seasons but a move has failed to materialise.
However, former Tottenham Hotspur manager Redknapp believes a transfer could well be on the cards now that Jose Mourinho is in charge at Old Trafford.
“Especially with the Man United now with Mourinho there, I’m not sure if he’s a Jorge Mendes player, there’s every chance, I think he seems to have everybody whose worth having,” Redknapp told BetSafe.
“Jorge Mendes is the super agent. If he’s got Ronaldo and Mourinho’s, there’s every chance that could happen. You know if he were going to go anywhere, I would imagine that it would be Man United.”
Mourinho was appointed as Louis van Gaal’s successor in May after the 20-time English champions finished in fifth place in the Premier League table.
The Portuguese head coach previously worked with Ronaldo during his three-year stay at The Bernabeu between 2009 and 2013.
Ronaldo won three Premier League titles, the Champions League and two League Cups during his first spell at United.
