Reporter claims star striker is close to Arsenal transfer

Arsenal are close to signing Gonzalo Higuain this summer, according to Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol

Arsenal are close to signing Gonzalo Higuain in a swap deal involving Olivier Giroud, according to Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol.

The Gunners are thought to be on the lookout for attacking reinforcements this summer as Arsene Wenger bids to revamp his squad ahead of next season.

Arsenal have already signed midfielder Granit Xhaka and striker Takuma Asano so far this summer but are yet to bring in a proven forward.

Wenger has already signalled his intention to bring in a new striker this summer with the club’s failed bid to land Jamie Vardy from Leicester City.

Now, Arsenal could be closing in on the signing of striker Higuain from Napoli, in a deal which would see Giroud head in the other direction to join the Serie A side.

Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier League table last season, 10 points behind eventual champions Leicester City, as they were forced to settle for a trophyless season under Wenger.
