Insider delivers latest update on Arsenal’s link to Germany international
Arsenal and Valencia are still about €5m apart in their valuation of Shkodran Mustafi, says Emanuele Giulianelli
Arsenal and Valencia are still about €5m (£4.2m) apart in their valuation of Shkodran Mustafi, according to Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli.
Arsene Wenger’s side have been linked with a bid to sign the 24-year-old defender in recent days as the north London side look to strengthen their defence ahead of the new season.
Wenger recently confirmed that he is on the lookout for a new defender this summer after Per Mertesacker was ruled out of action for a number of months following knee surgery.
Giulianelli previously reported that Arsenal have offered €18m (£15.1m) for Mustafi.
Now, Italian reporter Giulianelli is claiming that Valencia are seeking a higher fee than Arsenal are currently prepared to offer for the defender.

The Gunners have already signed one defender this summer after snapping up Rob Holding from Bolton Wanderers earlier in the month.
Wenger’s side were criticised for failing to maintain a Premier League title challenge last season as they ended up 10 points behind surprise champions Leicester City in the table.
