Insider delivers latest update on Arsenal’s link to striker

Arsenal are no longer in the running to sign Gabriel Barbosa this summer, says Emanuele Giulianelli

Arsenal have pulled out of the race to sign Gabriel Barbosa from Santos this summer, according to Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli.

The north London club had been touted as a possible destination for the 19-year-old forward as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his attacking options at Emirates Stadium.

Wenger has already signalled his intention to sign a striker this summer with the club’s failed bid to land Jamie Vardy from Leicester City before Euro 2016.

However, reporter Giulianelli now claims that Arsenal are no longer in the running to sign the highly-rated Brazilian starlet, with Juventus now looking a more likely destination for the forward.

Giulianelli tweeted on Tuesday afternoon:

Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier League table last season, 10 points behind champions Leicester City as they were criticised for failing to sustain a title challenge.
