Inter Milan deliver transfer update on Mauro Icardi amid Arsenal link
Inter Milan rule out the sale of Mauro Icardi amid Napoli and Arsenal speculation
Inter Milan have ruled out the sale of Mauro Icardi in the summer transfer window amid reports linking the striker with a move to Arsenal.
I’m not interested in what Napoli can offer. Icardi doesn’t have a release clause in his contract and Inter doesn’t want to sell him
The Argentina international’s future has been a source of speculation in the summer transfer window after an impressive campaign for the Nerazzurri.
The 23-year-old forward scored 16 times in 33 Serie A appearances last season after Roberto Mancini made Icardi the new Inter captain.
The South American has also been linked with a switch to Napoli in recent weeks, with Gonzalo Higuain completing a move to Juventus in a £75m deal.
However, Inter have poured cold water on talk of Argentina international Icardi leaving the San Siro in the summer transfer window.
“For sure there have been meetings with Napoli, but we’re not selling [Icardi] to Napoli, and it’s not a question of money,” Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“There is no agreement. Inter will be keeping Icardi, as well as other players. Our ambition is to reinforce the squad and the club by keeping our top players.
“I’m not interested in what Napoli can offer. Icardi doesn’t have a release clause in his contract and Inter doesn’t want to sell him. It’s as simple as that.”
Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier league table last season and 10 points behind champions Leicester City.
Arsene Wenger has already signed three players in the summer transfer window as the Arsenal manager looks to bolster his squad ahead of the new season.
Granit Xhaka completed a £33m move to Arsenal from Borussia Monchengladbach in May before Takuma Asano and Rob Holding.
