Ivan Rakitic has dismissed the speculation about his future by insisting that he is looking forward to next season at Barcelona, despite the arrival of Andre Gomes.

The La Liga champions beat off interest from a number of top European clubs to complete the £41.7m signing of the highly-rated Portugal and Valencia winger on Saturday.

However, Gomes’s move to Barcelona means that Rakitic and Arda Turan are facing uncertain futures at Camp Nou amid increased competition for places in Luis Enrique’s midfield.

Rakitic, who moved to Spanish champions Barcelona from Sevilla in a big-money deal in 2014, has been linked with Premier League trio Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool in recent weeks after his representative posted a cryptic update on Twitter.

However, the player took to Instagram to insist that he is looking forward to next season and distance himself from reports linking him with a move away from Camp Nou.

He posted the picture above and wrote: “Getting ready for the new season and really up for it. By the way, my only agent is Arturo Canales #ForçaBarça”

Rakitic has won back-to-back La Liga titles, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey since moving to Barcelona in 2014.

Gomes has signed a five-year deal with Barcelona following his big-money switch from Valencia.
