Jose Mourinho explains reasons for his second Man United signing
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is officially a Manchester United player!
Jose Mourinho has insisted that he did not hesitate to bring Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Manchester United, after the striker was finally confirmed as his second signing at Old Trafford on Friday evening.
The 34-year-old forward has been relentlessly linked with a move to United in recent weeks following his decision to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season.
Ibrahimovic was unveiled as a United player on Friday afternoon via a statement posted on United’s official website and was all smiles as he wore a Red Devils shirt for the first time.
The veteran striker becomes Mourinho’s second signing of the summer transfer window after he recruited 22-year-old defender Eric Bailly from Villarreal soon after his appointment.
And the United manager was quick to explain his reasons behind his decision to bring Ibrahimovic to the Premier League club.
Mourinho told United’s website: “Zlatan needs no introduction. The statistics speak for themselves. Ibra is one of the best strikers in the world and a player who always gives 100 per cent.
“He has won the most important league championships in the world of football, now he has the opportunity to play in the best league in the world and I know he will grasp this opportunity and will work hard to help the team win titles.
“I am certain that his talent will delight fans at Old Trafford next season and that his experience will be invaluable in helping to develop the younger players in the squad.”
United appointed Mourinho as Louis van Gaal’s successor last month after the club sacked the Dutchman in the wake of their fifth-placed finish in the Premier League last season.
