Jose Mourinho gives his views on new Man United signing
Jose Mourinho praises Zlatan Ibrahimovic following the striker's arrival at Manchester United
Jose Mourinho has praised Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the way he has adapted to life at Manchester United.
The Swedish striker became the Red Devils’ third signing of the summer transfer window as Mourinho moved quickly to add some experience to his attacking line-up at Old Trafford.
Ibrahimovic trained with his new Manchester United team-mates for the first time last week as he gets to grips with life at United.
The 34-year-old forward had been given an extended summer holiday following his involvement in Euro 2016 with Sweden.
And Mourinho has been impressed by the way the forward has slotted seamlessly into his set-up at Carrington following his summer transfer.
Speaking in an interview with MUTV, Mourinho said: “With Zlatan you may see someone with a big ego, big self-esteem, but it is in a positive way.
“When he is with the group, he is humble and friendly to everyone – integration is good.
“Zlatan is a fantastic player and, immediately in training, we could feel what I call ‘functional empathy’ – people looking to him, him looking to connect with other players. He is an amazing link player, an amazing player. He could be anything on the pitch, not just a goal-scorer.”
Mourinho is currently gearing up for his first season in charge at Old Trafford after being appointed as Louis van Gaal’s successor on a three-year contract back in May.
The Red Devils finished in fifth place in the Premier League and won the FA Cup last season.
