Jurgen Klopp comments on Man United’s next expected signing
Jurgen Klopp backs Borussia Dortmund to cope with the loss of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan this summer
Jurgen Klopp has insisted that Borussia Dortmund will be able to cope with Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s impending transfer to Manchester United.
The 27-year-old playmaker is expected to complete his transfer to Old Trafford in the coming days after Dortmund accepted a bid from United for the player over the weekend.
Mkhitaryan’s impending departure from Dortmund means that he is set to follow Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan out of the door at the club.
However, Liverpool manager and former Dortmund boss Klopp is confident that the Bundesliga outfit are well-prepared to deal with the departures of the three key players.
Klopp is quoted as saying by Bild: “Dortmund have managed to sign almost all of Europe’s biggest talents this transfer period.
“I am not worried about Borussia Dortmund at all. When I joined BVB, we were in a similar situation.
“If there’s one club that can cope with the departure of three key players, it’s got to be Borussia Dortmund and coach Thomas Tuchel.”
United have already confirmed deals to sign 22-year-old defender Eric Bailly and veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer as new manager Jose Mourinho sets about revamping his squad at Old Trafford ahead of his first season in charge.
