Jurgen Klopp: My warning for Man United and Man City
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insists that big-name signings are no guarantee of success
Jurgen Klopp has warned that Manchester United and Manchester City’s big name signings this summer are no guarantee of success next season.
Jose Mourinho has been busy in the summer transfer window since his appointment as Manchester United’s new manager, bringing in defender Eric Bailly, striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Manchester City have also been busy as they prepare for life under new manager Pep Guardiola, signing Ilkay Gundogan, Nolito and Alexander Zinchenko.
Liverpool boss Klopp is currently preparing for his first full season in charge at Anfield following his appointment last October.
And the German coach believes that big-name signings are no guarantee of success for any club.
Klopp is quotes as saying by The Telegraph: “At the moment nobody thinks about the good games we (Liverpool) played last season.
“They only think Manchester United have taken this player or Manchester City have taken this player and we have taken ‘what is the name?’ and that is it.’”
Liverpool finished in eighth place in the Premier League table last season as they missed out on a place in Europe next term.
Klopp was appointed as the club’s new manager back in October after the sacking of Brendan Rodgers by the Merseyside outfit.
