Kalidou Koulibaly’s agent provides Chelsea transfer update
Kalidou Koulibaly's agent says the defender is seeking a move away from Napoli this summer
Kalidou Koulibaly’s agent has reiterated that the Senegal defender wants to leave Napoli this summer.
The 25-year-old centre-half has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks following an impressive season for the Serie A outfit.
The Daily Mail are reporting that Chelsea and Everton have retained an interest in the defender ahead of the 2016/17 Premier League season.
New Blues manager Antonio Conte has already completed two deals in the summer transfer window after signing Michy Batshuayi from Marseille before agreeing a deal for Leicester City midfielder N’Golo Kante.
And the west London side have been offered encouragement in the race to sign Koulibaly after the 25-year-old’s agent revealed that the centre-half is still seeking a move away from Napoli this summer.
“Let’s be clear, I went to meet the president at Dimaro last Saturday,” the player’s agent Bruno Satin is quoted as saying by Football Italia. “We summed up the situation after these tense few weeks.
“That I know of, he’s not about to renew and the future doesn’t look rosy. The player’s desire is to leave and the signs we’re receiving from Napoli don’t exactly pressure him otherwise.
“We’ve decided to leave for economic reasons. After what happened to Higuain, though, Kalidou will not be leaving for Juventus or another competitor.
“Chelsea still want him and there’s time to close the deal.”
Koulibaly made 42 appearances in all competitions for Napoli last season.
The Senegal international moved to Napoli from Racing Genk in 2014.
Chelsea finished in tenth place in the Premier League table following a disappointing 2015/16 campaign.
