Liverpool

Simon Mignolet Little to do in the California fixture as the Belgium shot stopper looks to capitalise on Loris Karius’s injury setback. 6/10

Dejan Lovren The Croatia international was calm and composed alongside Liverpool’s new centre-half. 6

Ragnar Klavan Strong challenge on M’Baye Niang highlighted that this was more than just a friendly – ironic considering Cesc Fabregas’s red-card tackle on the Estonian on Wednesday night. Good performance. 7

James Milner Exposed in the opening five minutes but his centre-halves bailed him out of trouble. Otherwise, little to do. 6

Trent Alexander-Arnold The 16-year-old started at right-back ahead of Nathaniel Clyne. Got forward well. 7

Jordan Henderson The deep-lying midfielder in Klopp’s side. The Liverpool captain kept the ball moving and provided an insurance policy for the back four. Brushed the top of the net with an effort inside the area. 7

Adam Lallana Made a couple of early interceptions. Nearly picked out Mane with a low cross. One of the more entertaining players on show. 7

Georginio Wijnaldum Kept the Reds ticking over with sensible distribution of the ball. However, unable to have a real influence on his first appearance. 6

Philippe Coutinho Looked sharp but couldn’t produce a final bit of brilliance to unlock the Milan defence. 6

Sadio Mane Good early run had the crowd on their feet but his cross was overhit. Was a danger man for Jurgen Klopp’s side with his step over garnering roars of approval from the Santa Clara crowd. Had the chance to tee up Sturridge with only the goalkeeper to beat but overhit his cross. The Senegal star was then denied by Gabriel’s feet minutes before the break. 7

Daniel Sturridge Had an effort blocked midway through the first half from an acute angle. 6

Substitutes

Nathaniel Clyne Started the second half and provided a running threat down the right wing. 6

Roberto Firmino One of Klopp’s half-time substitutions, the Brazilian added more flair to the Liverpool side. Got on the score sheet as he poked home Ojo’s deflected cross. Denied a second late on. 7

Alberto Moreno Brought on for the second half and produced an error-free performance which is progress. 6

Cameron Brannagan N/A

Divock Origi (man of the match) A half-time replacement, the Belgium striker was a threat in behind Milan’s defence. He did his chances of usurping Sturridge in Klopp’s starting line-up no harm with a clinical opener in the 59th minute. Scored an even better second goal only to be denied by the linesman. 8

Kevin Stewart A half-time substitute but was on the turf inside 12 minutes after picking up a knock.

Andre Wisdom N/A

Lazar Markovic Brought on at half-time but offered very little. 5

Sheyi Ojo Replaced Milner in the 62nd minute. His deflected cross teed up Firmino. 7
