Man United clear favourites to sign France star this summer – report
Manchester United are leading the race to sign Paul Pogba this summer, according to the bookmakers
Manchester United are now the favourites to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus ahead of Real Madrid this summer, according to bookmakers BetStars.
The Red Devils have been linked with a host of players since Jose Mourinho’s appointment as the club’s new manager last month on a three-year contract.
So far, United have only signed 22-year-old defender Eric Bailly from Villarreal, although Zlatan Ibrahimovic is expected to follow suit imminently after the striker confirmed that he would be joining the Red Devils on Thursday.
The Daily Star reported on Thursday morning in an exclusive story that United are closing in on a club record £80m swoop to bring Pogba back to the club.
Now, the bookies have installed United as the leading candidates to sign Pogba ahead of Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
United are currently priced at 4/5 favourites to sign Pogba, while Real Madrid are behind on 13/8 to land the France international with BetStars.
Pogba is currently priced at 7/2 to remain at Juventus beyond the summer transfer window, clearly indicating that a move could be on the cards.
Ian Marmion, trading director at BetStars, said in a news release sent to The Sport Review: “French midfielder Paul Pogba has been a top transfer target all summer and just a few weeks ago the 23-year-old was 7/4 to sign for Real Madrid.
“However, in a complete turnaround Manchester United have now emerged as clear odds-on favourites at 4/5 to sign the mercurial Frenchman, who would make a cracking addition to Jose Mourinho’s squad for next season.”
Pogba has developed into one of Europe’s most exciting talents since being allowed to leave Manchester United by Sir Alex Ferguson four summers ago.
