Man United interested in making Monaco star Mourinho’s next signing – report

Manchester United are interested in signing Tiemoue Bakayoko, say reports in France

Manchester United are keeping tabs on Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko ahead of a potential summer transfer, according to reports in France.

French newspaper L’Equipe is reporting that both Southampton and United have expressed an interest in signing the midfielder in the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old defensive midfielder has fallen out of favour under Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim and was limited to just 14 Ligue 1 starts for the club last season.

The Red Devils have been linked with a host of players in the summer transfer window as Jose Mourinho prepares for his first season in charge at Old Trafford.

However, despite all of the speculation, the Red Devils have so far only signed defender Eric Bailly, striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

It remains to be seen who else United will recruit in the current transfer window as Mourinho bids to steer the club back to the top of English football, but Bakayoko could certainly be an option as he bids to add some steel to his midfield.
