Man United ponder bid for Premier League star – report

Manchester United are pondering a transfer bid to sign John Stones from Everton, according to The Times

Manchester United are weighing up a transfer bid to sign John Stones from Everton this summer, according to reports in the British media.

The Times is claiming that newly appointed Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is unsure about his defensive options at Old Trafford ahead of his first season in charge at the club.

Mourinho has already moved quickly to bolster his defence with the signing of defender Eric Bailly from Villarreal.

However, the same newspaper report claims that Mourinho is considering making a move to bring Stones to Old Trafford as he looks to add further defensive options to his squad.

Mourinho and his United squad jetted off to China for their pre-season tour on Tuesday afternoon as they continue their preparations for the new campaign.

The Red Devils moved quickly to appoint Mourinho as the club’s new manager back in May after their disappointing fifth-placed finish in the Premier League under Louis van Gaal.
