Man United star: My honest thoughts on life under Jose Mourinho
Michael Carrick is relishing life under new Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho
Michael Carrick insists that he is thoroughly enjoying life under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United following the Portuguese coach’s arrival at the club.
The former Chelsea boss has been taking his first training sessions as United boss in recent days as many of the first team reported back to Carrington to begin their preparations for the new season.
Mourinho has been appointed as the club’s new manager on a three-year contract after the club opted to sack Louis van Gaal at the end of last season.
One of the manager’s first duties was to hand Carrick a new one-year contract at Old Trafford.
And the former England midfielder seems to be thoroughly enjoying life under Mourinho at the club.
Speaking to MUTV, Carrick said: “It’s been very good.
“We came in last Wednesday and have done over a week with him now and it’s been enjoyable. The sessions are very good, it hasn’t broken us yet and hasn’t been as hard as you might think! [Laughs]
“There’s been a lot of football and fun at the right times, and I think everyone’s enjoying it. When you get a new manager, pre-season is always a little bit different because it’s a new personality and new ways. But you approach the season as any other and you’ve got to prepare yourself to be ready for the battle.
“That’s what the first few weeks of pre-season are for, to get that base of fitness and mentally prepare yourself for the year ahead.”
United finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season as they missed out on a place in next term’s Champions League.
The Red Devils won the FA Cup in Van Gaal’s final game in charge at Old Trafford.
