Man United star wants to stay and fight for place under Mourinho – report
Juan Mata wants to prove himself to Jose Mourinho at Manchester United next season, say reports
Juan Mata wants to stay at Manchester United and fight for his place under new manager Jose Mourinho, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mail is claiming that the Spanish playmaker is keen to remain and prove himself to the new Manchester United boss at Old Trafford.
Mata’s future at United has been a source of speculation since Mourinho’s appointment, as it was the former Chelsea boss who opted to sell the Spaniard to the Red Devils back in January 2014.
The same newspaper story reports that Everton have shown an interest in bringing Mata to Goodison Park to work under new boss Ronald Koeman.
But the report states that Mata is keen to prove himself to Mourinho and wants to stay at Old Trafford beyond the summer.
It has also been claimed by Mundo Deportivo in Spain earlier this summer that Barcelona were pondering a bid to bring Mata back to his native homeland this summer.
Mata joined United from Chelsea in January 2014 with David Moyes as boss at Old Trafford.
