Marcel Desailly makes bold claim about Man United and Paul Pogba
Marcel Desailly questions why Man United target Paul Pogba would leave Juventus in the summer transfer window
Marcel Desailly has questioned why France midfielder Paul Pogba would swap Juventus for Manchester United this summer.
The 23-year-old has emerged as one of Europe’s most-prized midfielders following a dominant spell with the Italian champions.
You have seen already that last season he rejected a lot of offers because he is fine at Juventus
Pogba’s agent has confirmed that the Red Devils are chasing his client as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his squad.
The 20-time English champions sold the playmaker to the Serie A champions in a £800,000 deal in 2012 after Pogba failed to secure a regular spot in Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.
However, former Chelsea defender Desailly believes his French compatriot would be foolish to turn his back on Juventus given the Italian giants’s success in recent seasons.
“Who is going to give him more than what he has at the moment?” Desailly told The Sun.
“They have given him a new contract, he is winning everything at Juventus, there’s no real pressure.
“Money? He has a couple of million, he has secured his life with the contract that he has. It’s not like it’s an emergency for him where he has to move. He has time.
“Italy is fine. From the outside it doesn’t seem as though it is very attractive, but once you are used to being there, playing there – they have a nice stadium a great organisation.
“You have seen already that last season he rejected a lot of offers because he is fine at Juventus. I am sure he is going to stay another year.”
Pogba has scored eight goals and has made 12 assists in 35 Serie A appearances for Juventus in their title-winning campaign last term.
The France star has won four Serie A titles and two Coppa Italias since his move to Turin four years ago.
United finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term which led to Louis van Gaal’s sacking and Jose Mourinho’s appointment.
