Marcus Rashford sends message to Man United boss Jose Mourinho
Marcus Rashford cannot wait to prove himself to new Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho
Marcus Rashford has told Jose Mourinho that he is desperate to show the Manchester United manager what he can do during pre-season as he bids to win a place in his starting line-up.
The teenager has enjoyed an extended summer break after his involvement in Euro 2016 with England in France but is due to link up with his team-mates in the coming days.
Mourinho has been getting to grips with life as United boss and oversaw his first victory as manager on Saturday in the 2-0 win at Wigan Athletic in the club’s first pre-season friendly game.
Rashford broke onto the scene in the second half of last season and caught the eye with a number of impressive displays for the Red Devils.
And the 18-year-old striker appears to be determined to prove himself to the newly-appointed Manchester United boss ahead of next season.
Speaking in an interview with United’s website ahead of the club’s tour to China, Rashford said: “It means a lot to be going.
“It’s an opportunity to show the manager what you’ve got and you have to take the opportunity when it comes.
“It would be a massive experience especially with the players that could be going as well. I’ve got a lot I can learn from them.”
United finished fifth in the Premier League last season under Louis van Gaal.
