New Arsenal signing tells fans what to expect from him

Granit Xhaka is preparing for his first season as an Arsenal player

Granit Xhaka has given Arsenal fans a glimpse into what they can expect from him in his first season at the club.

The midfielder became Arsene Wenger’s first signing of the summer transfer window back in May after the Arsenal boss moved quickly to bolster his squad ahead of next season.

Xhaka is now in the US with his new Arsenal team-mates for their pre-season tour as Wenger’s men continue to work on their fitness levels.

And the Switzerland international has given Arsenal fans a summary of what they can expect to see from him next season.

Speaking in an interview with the Arsenal magazine, Xhaka said: “I like to play football. I’m an aggressive player and also a leader. I’m only 23 but I captained a good team in Germany.”

Arsenal finished second in the Premier League table last season as they ended up 10 points behind surprise champions Leicester City.

And Xhaka is sure that Wenger’s side are on the cusp of winning trophies again in the coming seasons despite last term’s disappointment.

He continued: “Of course [Arsenal can achieve great things]. I’ve looked at Arsenal before, on every weekend, and I know they are a big club.

“This year they finished second and that was a very good season.”
