New Chelsea signing: What Eden Hazard told me before I signed
Michy Batshuayi lifts the lid on the reasons behind his summer transfer to Chelsea
Michy Batshuayi has revealed that he spoke with both Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois to get the lowdown on the west London club before signing for Chelsea.
The striker put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Blues on Sunday after recent speculation linking him with a move to Stamford Bridge.
The Belgium international becomes new manager Antonio Conte’s first signing of the summer transfer window and his move comes after his national side were knocked out of Euro 2016 by Wales on Friday night.
Batshuayi knows both Hazard and Courtois well from his role with Belgium – and the 22-year-old striker has revealed that both Chelsea stars told him that a move to the west London club would be a good decision.
Speaking to Chelsea’s official website, Batshuayi said: “I am delighted to sign for one of the biggest clubs in Europe and embark on the next chapter in my career.
“I hope I can help Chelsea win many trophies during my time at Stamford Bridge.
“Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois have told me many good things about the club, and with Antonio Conte coming in it’s an exciting time to become a Chelsea player.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for myself and my family, I am looking forward to playing in the Premier League next season.”
