New Man United signing reveals Shinji Kagawa’s influence in transfer
Henrikh Mkhitaryan lifts the lid on how Shinji Kagawa spoke positively of Manchester United
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has revealed that Shinji Kagawa played a role in helping to convince him that a transfer to Manchester United was a good decision this summer.
The Armenia international became the Red Devils’ third signing of the summer transfer window earlier this month as new manager Jose Mourinho moved quickly to snap him up from Borussia Dortmund.
Mkhitaryan has already linked up with his new Manchester United team-mates for pre-season training as he prepares for his first taste of Premier League football next term.
And the 27-year-old has revealed how former Red Devil Kagawa had only positive things to say about Manchester United before his transfer this month.
Mkhitaryan is quoted as saying by The Telegraph: “I never promise something, I always say that I will try.
“Because if you promise something and you don’t do it you will always be under pressure. I want to do everything to get to a new level
“Every time Shinji talked about Manchester he told me something good so it gives a good impression.
“You have to try and do everything to show your best qualities otherwise you will not be here any more.”
Mourinho has been tasked with restoring United to the top of English football after their disappointing fifth-placed finish under Louis van Gaal last season.
The club opted to sack the Dutchman and replace him with Mourinho just days after the Red Devils lifted the FA Cup at Wembley.
