Michy Batshuayi will wear the number 23 shirt at Chelsea next season
Chelsea have confirmed that summer signing Michy Batshuayi will wear the number 23 shirt for the Blues from next season.
The Belgian forward put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the west London club on Sunday as Chelsea completed the first signing of the Antonio Conte era.
The 22-year-old striker becomes Conte’s first signing as the Italian coach prepares to take over at Stamford Bridge following Italy’s elimination from Euro 2016.
And the west London club confirmed via a post on their official Instagram feed that Batshuayi would wear the number 23 shirt from next season.
Chelsea shared the photo above on the app and wrote: “@mbatshuayi will wear the number 23 shirt! #CFC #Chelsea #Batshuayi”
The number holds fond memories for Batshuayi, who began his professional career at Standard Liege wearing the shirt.

Conte will be expected to report to Chelsea’s Cobham training ground in the coming days as he prepares for his first taste of Premier League management with The Blues.
