Chelsea striker Diego Costa has a message for Blues supporters
Diego Costa is determined to be in tip-top shape ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Spain endured a forgettable second season at Stamford Bridge after the 27-year-old centre-forward only managed to find the back of the net in 12 of his 28 Premier League games.
Costa improved in the second half of the season under Jose Mourinho’s interim replacement Guus Hiddink ahead of the appointment of Antonio Conte as their new manager.
The Blues striker netted 20 times in 27 Premier League games in the west London side’s most-recent title-winning campaign in 2015 following his £32m switch from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2014.
Former Juventus manager Conte took charge of his first two training sessions as Chelsea manager earlier this week as the Italian looks to replicate his success in Turin at Stamford Bridge.
And Costa, who was omitted from the Spain squad for Euro 2016, was in a particularly determined mood as he took to his Instagram page to send a message to Blues supporters.
Costa wrote the following caption: “Getting ready for this season ⚽️ @chelseafc”
