Martin Skrtel reflects on his Liverpool career after Turkey move
Martin Skrtel has dedicated a heartfelt Instagram message to the Liverpool supporters after the centre-half completed a transfer to Fenerbahce on Friday.
The Slovakia international has signed a contract with the Turkish side after Fenerbahce agreed a £5m fee for the 31-year-old centre-half with the Reds.
Skrtel had been out-of-favour under Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp in the second half of the season following his return from a hamstring injury.
The no-nonsense defender moved to Liverpool under Rafael Benitez in 2008 after the 18-time English champions paid £6.5m to Zenit St Petersburg for the centre-half.
And Skrtel posed the below message on his Instagram page as the Slovakian reflected on the end of his spell as a Liverpool player.
Skrtel wrote:
“I would like to say big thanks to all Liverpool fans arround the world for the support they been showing to me and my family throughout 8 and half years!it was pleasure amd privilege represent such a massive club as LIVERPOOL FC.the club, city and fans will be in our hearts forever ❤️ YNWA”

The defender scored 18 times in 319 appearances in all competitions for the Merseyside outfit during an eight-year stay at the Anfield outfit.
Only Liverpool legends Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard, Sami Hyypia, Pepe Reina and Robbie Fowler made more Premier League appearances as a Reds player than Skrtel.
The Slovakia captain was part of Liverpool’s side that won the League Cup in 2011.
