New Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho congratulates Wimbledon champion Andy Murray

Jose Mourinho was quick to congratulate Andy Murray after the British number one won his second Wimbledon title on Sunday afternoon.

The 29-year-old eased to a 6-4 7-6 (3) 7-6 (2) victory over Canadian sixth seed Milos Raonic in his third final at SW19.

Mourinho has been busy since his appointment as the new Manchester United manager in May following Louis van Gaal’s sacking.

The Red Devils boss has already signed Villarreal defender Eric Bailly, Swedish legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

But the Portuguese coach took a break from his busy management schedule to watch Murray win his second Wimbledon crown at Centre Court.

And the United manager wasted no time sending a message to Murray following the Scot’s straight sets victory.

Mourinho wrote on his Instagram page: “well done Andy congrats”

Mourinho is an avid tennis fan having previously attended the ATP World Tour finals and Wimbledon tournaments in past years.

The United manager will start his Red Devils reign with a clash against Leicester City in the Community Shield at Wembley on 7 August.

Mourinho’s Red Devils side will make the trip to Bournemouth in their first Premier League game.
