Anthony Martial makes no reference to shirt dispute with Man United in latest Instagram post
Anthony Martial doesn’t appear to be letting the recent controversy surrounding his shirt number change affect his summer holidays ahead of the new season at Manchester United.
Martial became United’s new number nine last season after the France international completed a £36m switch to Old Trafford from Ligue 1 side Monaco under Louis van Gaal.
However, the Red Devils forward was handed the number 11 shirt last week after new signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic revealed that he will be the proud owner of the prestigious shirt number this season.
Martial was reported to have temporarily unfollowed United on Twitter in an apparent show of disappointment at the shirt number swap before the 21-year-old re-followed his employers at the weekend.
But there was no reference to the controversy in Martial’s latest Instagram post below as he uploaded a photo from his summer holiday without a caption.
Martial scored 11 times in his first season in the Premier League following his big-money move from Monaco last term.
United finished in fifth place in the Premier League last season, which led to Van Gaal’s sacking in May.
