Loris Karius is getting to grips with the Liverpool weather
Loris Karius was getting to grips with the Liverpool weather as the new signing trained with his team-mates ahead of their next pre-season friendly.
The Germany Under-21 international was the Merseyside outfit’s first signing of the summer transfer window after completing a £4.7m deal from Bundesliga side Mainz to the Reds in May.
Karius was handed the number one shirt by manager Jurgen Klopp in a clear sign that the German head coach views the 23-year-old as a serious contender to become first-choice goalkeeper.
The former Manchester City youth player has already kept back-to-back clean sheets in the Liverpool side following a 1-0 victory over local rivals Tranmere Rovers and a 5-0 win against Fleetwood Town.
And a rain-drenched Karius thanked the British weather for welcoming him back to the country as the Liverpool shot stopper trained ahead of Sunday’s pre-season friendly against Wigan Athletic.
Karius posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:
“Best weather conditions during today’s training session at Melwood 😬🌧 – Think I’ve arrived in the UK! 😀 #LFC #LK1 @liverpoolfc”
