Loris Karius posts message for Liverpool supporters on his Instagram page
Loris Karius has reassured Liverpool supporters that he won’t make every game as nerve-wracking as Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Wigan Athletic.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp signed the 23-year-old in a £4.7m deal from Bundesliga side Mainz earlier this summer and immediately handed the new signing the Reds’s number one shirt.
The Germany Under-21 international was starting his third successive pre-season friendly as Simon Mignolet continues to make the most of his summer holidays ahead of the 2016/17 Premier League season.
Karius, who previously played for Manchester City’s youth side, managed to keep clean sheets in the Merseyside outfit’s 2-0 win against Tranmere Rovers and 5-0 victory over Fleetwood Town.
However, the German shot stopper misjudged a back pass in the first half of Sunday’s pre-season win which almost led to an embarrassing moment for the summer signing.
But Karius was able to see the funny side of the incident as he posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:
“Another clean sheet in our 2-0 win against Wigan, but I think I stole the show today…😄🙈 I’ll try to make it less exciting the next time… #preseason #LK1 #LFC @liverpoolfc”
Liverpool finished in eighth place in the Premier League table last season after a mixed campaign under Brendan Rodgers’s successor, Klopp.
