Liverpool reveal what number Joel Matip will wear for the Reds in the Premier League next season
Liverpool have revealed that new signing Joel Matip will wear shirt number 32 next season.
The Cameroon international became a Liverpool player on Friday after the Reds had agreed a deal to sign the Schalke defender in January upon the expiration of his contract with the Bundesliga club.
Matip becomes the fourth new arrival at the Merseyside club this summer following the signings of Germany goalkeeper Loris Karius and Southampton winger Sadio Mane, with Marko Grujic agreeing a deal to move to the 18-time English champions in January, too.
Liverpool confirmed Matip was now a Reds player earlier on Friday before the Merseyside outfit unveiled the African’s shirt number for the 2016-17 Premier League season.
Matip, 24, scored three goals and made three assists in 34 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke last season.
Liverpool finished in eighth place in the Premier League table last season after Jurgen Klopp’s appointment as manager in October.
The Reds lost 3-1 to La Liga outfit Sevilla in the Europa League final in Basel in May,
