Bastian Schweinsteiger was quick to wish Michael Carrick a happy birthday this week

Bastian Schweinsteiger has taken to social media to wish Michael Carrick a happy birthday after he turned 35 on Thursday.

The veteran midfielder recently signed a new one-year contract extension at Manchester United to extend his playing career under new manager Jose Mourinho.

Schweinsteiger, meanwhile, is waiting to see what the future holds for him under new manager Mourinho following the Portuguese coach’s appointment as the club’s new manager.

The Germany international has been given an extended summer break by his club following his involvement in Euro 2016 with his country.

But that did not stop Schweinsteiger from using his personal Instagram account to wish Carrick a happy birthday on Thursday.

He posted the picture above on the app and wrote: “Happy birthday and all the best, @carras16! Have a good one.”

Schweinsteiger endured a mixed first season at United after joining the Red Devils from Bayern Munich last summer.
