Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is staying in shape ahead of the battle for a first-team spot
Simon Mignolet isn’t ready to give up in the fight to be Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper in the new Premier League season as the Belgium shot-stopper trained during his luxurious summer holiday.
The 28-year-old is facing a battle to remain as Liverpool’s starting goalkeeper after Jurgen Klopp signed Loris Karius in a deal from Bundesliga outfit Mainz earlier in the summer transfer window.
The Germany Under-21 international was handed the number one shirt in what appears to be a clear sign that Karius could become Klopp’s first-choice shot stopper for the Reds in the coming campaign.
Mignolet didn’t make an appearance for Belgium during their Euro 2016 campaign, despite being part of Marc Wilmots’s 23-man squad for the European championship tournament.
And the Liverpool star was keeping his fitness ticking over as the Reds shot stopper went for a run on the beach on Monday afternoon.
Mignolet posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:
“Running session with a view. #Seychelles”
Klopp’s Liverpool side have already played their first game of pre-season after a 1-0 victory over local Merseyside rivals Tranmere Rovers at the weekend.
