Georginio Wijnaldum takes part in Liverpool training at Levi Stadium

Georginio Wijnaldum was all smiles with his new Liverpool team-mates as Jurgen Klopp put his players through their paces ahead of Saturday evening’s friendly clash against AC Milan.

The Reds lost 1-0 to Chelsea in their International Champions Cup opener at the Rose Bowl last Wednesday after England defender Gary Cahill netted a 10th-minute winner.

However, the Netherlands international didn’t feature for the Merseyside outfit after Wijnaldum completed a £25m move to Liverpool from Newcastle United earlier this month.

But the new Reds playmaker is in contention to make his first Liverpool appearance and play against the Serie A outfit at the Levi Stadium in San Jose on Saturday night.

The Reds finished in eighth place in the Premier League table last season after Klopp was appointed as Brendan Rodgers’s successor in October.

Liverpool lost to Manchester City on penalties in the League Cup final before a 3-1 defeat by Sevilla in the Europa League final.
