Jurgen Klopp meets new Liverpool signing Georginio Wijnaldum at their base in California

Jurgen Klopp greeted Georginio Wijnaldum at Liverpool’s hotel in Palo Alto after the new signing jetted out to California on Saturday afternoon.

Wijnaldum completed a £25m switch to the five-time European champions on Friday afternoon before heading stateside to link up with the rest of Klopp’s squad.

Liverpool are currently in USA for their International Champions Cup fixtures against Chelsea and AC Milan over the next week in Pasadena and Santa Clara.

Wijnaldum, who will wear the number five shirt for the Reds this season, is one of seven new faces on show in California as Klopp gives his squad a facelift.

The Netherlands international netted 11 times in 38 games in his first season in the Premier League as the 25-year-old proved powerless to prevent Newcastle United from suffering relegation to the Championship.

Wijnaldum was part of PSV Eindhoven’s squad that won the Eredivisie title for the first time in eight years in 2015.

Here is a selection of photos as Wijnaldum met Klopp at the club’s hotel in California.
