Raphael Varane makes bold claim about Man United linked Paul Pogba
Raphael Varane says he can't shed light on Paul Pogba's transfer plans this summer
Raphael Varane says he has no idea where France midfielder Paul Pogba will end up at the end of the summer transfer window.
The Juventus star has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United since Jose Mourinho’s appointment as the Red Devils new manager.
Pogba is still a Juventus player for now but the 20-time English champions are thought to be closing in on a £100m deal to sign the France midfielder.
The centre-half is international team-mates with Pogba although he missed the European championship campaign this summer through injury.
However, Varane, who has been previously linked with a move to Old Trafford, was unable to shed light on Pogba’s plans ahead of the new season.
“Pogba is my friend and I talked to him about this issue long ago but I don’t know what you think or he thinks,” Varane is quoted as saying by Metro.
“He’s a very good player, but I don’t know what he wants or what he’ll do. We have a great team [at Real Madrid] and the best players.
“I must not say anything about a potential transfer for Pogba, it’s his decision.”
Pogba has won four successive Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia crowns and finished as a Champions League runner-up since his move to Turin in 2012.
United have already signed three new players in the summer transfer window following Jose Mourinho’s appointment as their new manager.
Eric Bailly completed a move to Villarreal and Swedish legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic agreed a transfer to United from Paris Saint-Germain.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan became United’s third summer signing after a £30m switch from Borussia Dortmund earlier this month.
