Ray Parlour: This is what I think of new Arsenal signing
Ray Parlour is a big fan of new Arsenal signing Granit Xhaka
Ray Parlour believes Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka will prove to be a good signing for Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger completed a £33m deal to sign the defensive midfielder from Bundesiga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach in May ahead of this summer’s European championship in France.
Xhaka has been handed the number 29 shirt ahead of the new Premier League season as the Swiss star prepares to partner up with former Basel star and Egypt international Mohamed Elneny.
Former Arsenal midfielder Parlour believes Xhaka is a good acquisition for Wenger’s squad as the north London side look to win their first Premier League title since 2004.
“Granit Xhaka, who they’ve brought in from Borussia Monchengladbach, is a good player,” Parlour told Sky Sports News.
“He had a good Euro 2016. He’s efficient and good on the ball so he’ll fit in well at the Emirates.”
Xhaka scored three goals and made one assist in 28 appearances in the Bundesliga for Monchengladbach last term.
The 23-year-old Arsenal signing could make his Gunners debut in the Premier League against Liverpool on the opening day of the 2016/17 season.
The Gunners finished in second place in the Premier League table last term, trailing champions Leicester City by 10 points.
Arsenal finished the season without silverware after making premature exits in the Champions League and the FA Cup.
