Riyad Mahrez urged to leave Leicester and sign for Arsenal
Danny Mills says Riyad Mahrez should jump at the chance to join Arsenal from Leicester this summer
Danny Mills has urged Riyad Mahrez to join Arsenal this summer if the opportunity presents itself.
The PFA player of the year has been touted as a target for the north London club in recent days as Arsene Wenger considers bolstering his attacking options at The Emirates.
Widespread media reports over the weekend – which originated in France – have claimed that Arsenal are keen to bring Mahrez to the north London club this summer and that the player would favour a move.
Arsenal failed in their bid to sign Jamie Vardy from Leicester City earlier in the summer transfer window.
However, former defender Mills feels that Mahrez should take up the opportunity to move to The Emirates if a move is possible.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club, Mills said: “If I was Jamie Vardy I would have walked to the Emirates. Mahrez should do the same.”
Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier League table last season, 10 points behind champions Leicester, who Mahrez helped to fire to the title.
Mahrez was voted as the PFA player of the year last season.
