Henry’s exit from the club comes after manager Wenger decided that he could not combine his job as a television pundit with his youth coaching role.

The former Arsenal captain had been working with youth players at the club as part of his Uefa A Licence course, but was not prepared to give up his media work with Sky Sports.

The club’s all-time record goal-scorer used his Twitter account to reveal that he was “honoured” to have been offered the role but said he fully respected Wenger’s decision concerning the matter.

Former France international Henry tweeted on Tuesday evening:

It now remains to be seen where Henry will move to further his coaching career, as he looks to balance his work between the training pitches and his media duties.

The north London club finished in second place in the Premier League table last season, 10 points behind eventual champions Leicester City.
