Three playmakers Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could sign
Here are three playmakers Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could target in the summer transfer window
Premier purchase: Lucas Moura
Brazil international Lucas Moura was previously a target for Liverpool’s old foes Manchester United before Paris Saint-Germain signed the promising winger in a £35.5m deal in 2012. Four years on and Moura has failed to earn a regular starting spot at PSG. The South American started just 26 of PSG’s 38 Ligue 1 games in their title-winning campaign, although Moura did find the net on nine occasions. At 23, the former Sao Paulo man has time on his side and Liverpool would be signing a player with time to develop and blossom into a world-class talent. A sizeable transfer fee could put the Reds off a potential deal, though.
The unknown quantity: Anderson Talisca
Most Liverpool supporters won’t know too much about Anderson Talisca unless they happen to be Portuguese league aficionados. Like Moura, the 22-year-old is Brazilian, and is currently at Benfica. Talisca only started six of the Portuguese side’s 34 games in their title-winning campaign in the Liga Sagres. He did, however, make a further 16 appearances from the bench. The South American is short on game-time at the top level of European football but such inexperience didn’t stop Bayern Munich spending nearly £40m on Renato Sanches. The Liverpool board would probably have concerns about spending a similar fee on something of an unknown quantity.
Bargain buy: Cristian Tello
Cristian Tello is no stranger to rumours linking him with a move to Liverpool. Former Reds boss Brendan Rodgers was thought to be interested in the Barcelona winger a couple of years ago, but Tello signed a new long-term deal with the Catalan side to dash the Northern Irishman’s hopes. However, his time at Barcelona hasn’t gone according to plan since that contract. Tello has spent the past 18 months on loan at Porto and Fiorentina, enjoying moderate success. While Tello wouldn’t be a big name like Moura, the Spanish forward has plenty of promise and time on his side at 24.
