Tottenham consider bid for Premier League midfielder – report

Tottenham are considering making a bid to sign Newcastle United midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum this summer, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting that Mauricio Pochettino is planning to turn his attentions towards signing Wijnaldum this summer as Spurs close in on the capture of striker Vincent Janssen.

Spurs have been linked with a host of players this summer as Pochettino prepares his side for a return to the Champions League next season.

The Lilywhites have already strengthened their midfield options with the signing of Victor Wanyama from Southampton earlier in the summer transfer window.

Now, it appears that Pochettino is on the lookout for further reinforcements in that position.

The same newspaper story says that the Spurs boss is keen to add to his attacking options to cover for injury and suspension as he prepares his side for a return to Europe’s elite club competition.

Wijnaldum scored 11 goals and made five assists for his team-mates for Newcastle last season.
