Real Betis are set to beat Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Antonio Sanabria, according to reports in Italy.
Gazzetta World claim that the Lilywhites had agreed a deal with Roma for the Paraguay youngster but the highly-rated attacker rejected Tottenham’s advances in favour of a move to Spain.
The Italian media report that the €7m-rated South American is likely to move to Betis in the summer transfer window after impressing during a season-long loan at Sporting Gijon last term.
Sanabria scored an impressive 11 times and made one assist in 29 La Liga appearances for Gijon as the Paraguayan played a key role in their top-flight survival.
Tottenham have been linked with a host of different players in the summer transfer window so far, although Mauricio Pochettino has thus far only completed two big-money deals.
Spurs signed Kenya international Victor Wanyama from Pochettino’s former club Southampton earlier this summer.
The Lilywhites completed a £17m deal for AZ Alkmaar and Netherlands striker Vincent Janssen on Tuesday afternoon as Pochettino added more depth to his attacking options at White Hart Lane.
