Tottenham receive transfer update on £14m Dutch striker
Vincent Janssen has slammed AZ Alkmaar for failing to negotiate with Tottenham Hotspur over £14m transfer
Vincent Janssen has criticised AZ Alkmaar for refusing to consider Tottenham Hotspur’s £14m offer for the Netherlands striker.
The 21-year-old centre-forward has been heavily linked with a move to White Hart Lane in recent weeks after a spectacular season in the Eredivisie for AZ Alkmaar.
The Lilywhites were thought to have originally offered £12m for the highly-rated striker before Spurs stepped up their transfer bid to £14m in recent days.
However, Tottenham appear to have made no progress with their negotiations with the Eredivisie club, much to the frustration of Janssen.
The Dutch striker criticised his employers for failing to turn up at the negotiating table despite Tottenham’s respectable offer.
“I have expressed my choice at the club,” Janssen is quoted as saying by Daily Mirror.
“Tottenham Hotspur has made a high bid in my eyes. There has been an offer been around almost [£14million]. But AZ will not even be at the table.
“I would like to move as soon as possible to start pre-season training. This is frustrating.”
Tottenham target Janssen finished as the Eredivisie’s top goal-scorer last season after the 21-year-old scored an impressive 27 times in 34 games for Alkmaar.
