Tottenham star angrily responds to summer transfer talk
Erik Lamela dismisses speculation about his future at Tottenham Hotspur beyond the summer
Erik Lamela has angrily denied that he could be set for a transfer away from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
The Argentina international was a regular fixture in Mauricio Pochettino’s side last season as he helped them to finish third in the Premier League and secure a spot in next season’s Champions League.
Lamela has, however, apparently grown tired about the transfer speculation about his future this summer and has moved to emphatically quash suggestions that he could leave White Hart Lane.
Lamela is quoted as saying by Inter-news.it: “Every year since I’ve been at Tottenham at this time of year we talk about my possible transfer to Italy.
“I honestly do not know why you always spread this rumour. I am only focused on Tottenham and I want to stay here and as I said last year when they feared another transfer I only care about this club.”
The 24-year-old scored five goals and made nine assists in the Premier League for the Lilywhites last season.
The north London club challenged Leicester for the title for much of the campaign but ended up having to settle for a third placed finish after being pipped by bitter local rivals Arsenal on the final day of the season.
Lamela joined Spurs from AS Roma back in the summer of 2013.
