Andy Cole delivers verdict on new Man United signing Paul Pogba

Andy Cole is excited about new Manchester United signing Paul Pogba

Andy Cole has explained why he is very excited about Manchester United’s new signing Paul Pogba.

The France international finally completed a much-anticipated return to Old Trafford on Monday as United reportedly agreed a world-record fee with Serie A champions Juventus for the box-to-box midfielder.

Pogba is the fourth signing of the summer for new manager Jose Mourinho as Louis van Gaal’s successor continues to leave his stamp on the 20-time English champions following his appointment in May.

The 23-year-old scored eight goals and made 12 assists in 35 Serie A appearances last season as the midfielder won his fourth successive Italian top-flight title with the Turin club.

And former United striker Cole believes Pogba will be a huge asset to the Red Devils if the midfielder can replicate his performances for Juventus.

“Well, judging by his Juventus performances, then I would say I am very excited! He is a top player and everyone is delighted to have him back,” Cole told United’s website.

“I love his energy – he has great energy in midfield. Watching him as a youngster at United and more so at Juventus, you can see he gets up and down the football pitch. He creates goals and he got himself a few goals last season. He always wants to be involved and on the ball.”

Mourinho started his summer transfer business with the £30m signing of Villarreal defender Eric Bailly before Zlatan Ibrahimovic completed a move to Old Trafford from French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

United finished in fifth place under Mourinho’s predecessor Louis van Gaal last season, although the 20-time English champions did win the FA Cup at Wembley.
