Antonio Conte delivers latest update on future of key Chelsea man

Antonio Conte insists that Diego Costa is happy at Chelsea and wants to stay at the club

Antonio Conte has insisted that Diego Costa is very happy at Chelsea and played down the speculation linking him with a summer transfer away from the club.

Costa has been linked with a move back to Atletico Madrid in recent days following the appointment of Conte as the club’s new manager.

However, the new Chelsea boss has now moved to pour cold water on those reports by insisting that the Spain international is pleased with his situation at the Stamford Bridge outfit and looks set to stay beyond the summer transfer window.

Speaking in an interview with Chelsea’s website, Conte said: “I repeat that Diego Costa is a Chelsea player and for me this is the most important thing at this moment.

“He is very happy to stay with us.”

Chelsea finished 10th in the Premier League last season as the west London club endured a campaign to forget, with Jose Mourinho having been sacked back in December.
